Our Christian foundation, vision and values underpin everything at St Bridget’s.

RE is a subject in which children can reflect on their own views and consider challenging questions that explore their ideas about life in all its fullness and our place on Earth. Studying RE enables our children to learn about Christianity and other principal religions, faiths and world ideas. We aim to promote respect, understanding cohesion and empathy and challenge prejudice and stereotyping.

We meet the requirements of the Cumbrian Agreed Syllabus by using a thoughtfully adapted version of Questful RE ( the Blackburn Diocese's scheme). Knowledge, understanding and vocabulary learned in the early years is built on throughout key stages one and two.  We enhance or leaning with visits from guests, artefacts and visits to religious buildings. Children also study the history of St. Bridget's Church Moresby, as part of local history studies.

RE is for all pupils and every pupil is legally entitled to Religious Education as part of a ‘broad and balanced’ curriculum.  Parents can legally withdraw their child from RE, but we would encourage parents who are considering this to talk with school.  Appropriate alternative arrangements will be made for the supervision of such children if required.
